Since 2021, we have been a part of the People&Baby group, which has found in La Giocomotiva a model to follow and to propose to all future Italian schools joining the group.
For over twenty years, La Giocomotiva has believed in the importance of stimulating and observing children through linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, body-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, naturalistic, and existential intelligence.

Our nursery is organized into 4 sections: little snails (3-12 months), snails (12-18 months), hedgehogs (18-24 months) and giraffes (24-36 months). This subdivision has the aim of guaranteeing each age group the most suitable activities for the psycho-motor development of children. We offer various activities, which often also involve families, thus guaranteeing a solid relationship of trust between children, parents and educators. We organize meeting evenings (face to face or online) to discuss topics related to the world of childhood and parenting with families.
Our idea of bilingualism is based on a constant and intense presence of the English language in every child’s daily life. For this reason, our educator are also mother-tongue who immediately offer activities, games and songs in English. We use a full immersion approach, in which exposure to the English language is daily and happen naturally both during the routine moments and during the design work.The different stimulation of verbal and sound constructions allows children to activate new connections, to have greater open-mindedness, flexibility and adaptability to different contexts and cultures.
La Giocomotiva di via Boschetti offre uno spazio luminoso costituito da spazi dedicati al gioco simbolico, spazi per l’attività motoria e zona atelier. Tutti gli arredi sono in legno realizzati su misura di bambino in modo da garantire divertimento e apprendimento in totale sicurezza. La nostra particolarità è la “grande chiocciola”: una struttura circolare di 10 metri di diametro realizzata completamente in legno, con un camminamento sopra i mobili e un tunnel interno da cui salire gattonando e guardare lo spazio sottostante come da un fantastico caleidoscopio.
The dishes, prepared in the internal kitchen of the via Zocchi headquarters (a few steps from us!), are made up of fresh seasonal and mainly organic ingredients. To ensure a balanced diet every day of the week, we offer our children a different carbohydrate and protein. The mid-morning snack always includes only fresh fruit (which for the very young is blended at the moment). In the afternoon, however, we offer a simple and genuine snack: bread and jam, yoghurt or milk and cereals.
The MISP (Massage in Schools Programme) is an active part of the daily life of our nursery. Every morning, after a moment animated by songs and dances, we dedicate ourselves to the MISP (“the moment of the little massage” as the children call it) which consists of a few minutes of relaxation and is our kind and calm way to start the day together! By doing this we learn to have respect for each other, we gain self-confidence and awareness of our being. This routine, so loved by children, creates a climate of collaboration with classmates and adults in which respect for the other, with its specific characteristics, becomes a common way of valuing and including differences.
We believe in the importance of nourishing not only the body but also the mind in a healthy way! For this reason we have created an internal library from which, once every 15 days, children can choose a book to take home and keep with them for a week. On the occasion of the return, everyone will be able to share their reading experience with their classmates. We strongly believe in this initiative which for us is an experience of growth, development of creative thinking and personal enrichment.
Another feature of our nursery is the use of sign language: words are communicated through hand movements and facial expressions. The LIS language, like all other languages, gives the possibility of creating new synapses and accustoming the brain to the study of other languages, which in this case affect not only the verbal but also the gestural one. the LIS teaches that the body is at least as important as the voice and a hand is no less than a word, furthermore a child who approaches sign language will be a more inclusive adult able to communicate beyond differences.
