The nursery La Giocomotiva di via Grottarossa, accredited by the Lazio region, is not only a place of care but also a place for building relationships and learning. For the first time at the nursery school, the child experiences multiple learning and emotional relationships with adults and other children. The relational environment is characterized by attention, care, affection, respect and support for each child. The didactic approach welcomes multiple languages, and various points of view and proposes rich and creative learning experiences (Workshop), the educator stands alongside the children in the journey that leads to understanding and knowledge, prepares the learning context, and welcomes the re-launch of the children (Reggio Emilia Approach).

The stimulation of verbal and sound constructions is different from that of the mother tongue allowing children to activate new connections, and to have greater mental openness, flexibility and acceptance to different contexts and cultures. Our Italian-English bilingual didactic proposal includes the offer in exclusive English for 5 hours per week.


La Giocomotiva di via Grottarossa for 0-6 education in which the work is inspired by the same pedagogical approaches and is carried out in an integrated way both at the nursery school and at the kindergarten. Periodically we carry out joint educational activities between the nursery and childhood sections, as well as meetings of sharing of didactic/project work among all the educational staff of the school. Generally, towards the end of the school year, the grown-up section of the nursery school gradually begins to familiarize itself with the environments, spaces and teachers of the kindergarten thus favoring their acclimatization. Didactic and pedagogical integration allows you to follow, in a more accurate and careful way, the cognitive, emotional, affective and relational development of each child and guarantees equal development opportunities.


We give importance to the quality of food offered, we follow the seasons and try to vary the dishes proposed in order to stimulate in children the curiosity about new flavors, with a balanced diet plan and special menus in case of particular needs. At mealtimes, a buffet offers children the opportunity to freely explore the world of food, to develop curiosity about different foods and flavors, to experience the pleasure of social and emotional sharing of such an important moment.


Our kindergarten has started a project of elimination of plastic at 360°: plastic games and educational materials have been replaced over time with natural materials, favoring wood loose parts (unstructured natural materials). During meals, we use ceramic plates, glass glasses and jugs and steel cutlery. In the choice of suppliers, we have favored those at KM 0 and fruit, vegetables and meat are supplied by local shopkeepers. The external environment of the school has been redesigned according to the introduction of the approach Outdoor Education. The


garden has become a real classroom, a natural environment that children learn to know and respect by developing the feeling of affinity that binds them to nature (biophilia), for an education in respect for the environment and its sustainability.


We actively cooperate with the School of Specialization in Health Psychology (Sapienza, University of Rome) for the elaboration of an appropriate Life Skills approach for the nursery school as well as with the Association With You which promotes services to parents, unborn children and infants. We also organize during the year Thematic seminars useful to parents and professionals in the sector.
